Not many people know the Korean contingent in the Vietnam War was the second largest force after the US forces. There were two famous Korean Army divisions, the Tiger Division and the White Horse Division, and one equally famous Korean Marine brigade, the Blue Dragon Brigade. Every city and town in Korea had their share of their sons killed in actionin Vietnam. And this is the memorial for the soldiers and marines from Yangsan (양산) who were killed during the Vietnam War.
It says the Tiger Division was assembled on October 12, 1965, in Seoul Yeoyido Field with its commander, Major General Chae Myeong Shin. The Division left the Busan 3rd Port on October 16, 1965, and reached
Quy Nhon, Vietnam, December 22, 1965.
From the day the advanced party left for Vietnam, September 25, 1965, to the last day in Vietnam, March 7, 1973, the Tiger Division had 114,902 soldiers (7,562 officers and 107,340 enlisted) who fought in Vietnam.
Korean Marines, Blue Dragon Brigade. This unit was so famously known as Ghost Killer Marines for their stealthy fighting skills and their bravery.
