Camellia-동백꽃-동백섬

Camellia (동백꽃) — My mother's favorite — My mother made so many beautiful embroideries before she got married. And her main embroidery subjects were always this flower and birds.

The village of her birthplace had and still has this famous Carmellia Garden (동백정) located in Dodun-ri, Seo-Myeon, Seocheon-gun, ChoongNam Province of Korea. This was also the same village where Christianity was first introduced to Korea by sea in the 1800s.

One of many reasons I like so much about Busan is there are so many Camellia trees here. There is one place near HaeWoonDae Beach (해운대해수욕장) called Camellia Island (Dongbaekseom, 동백섬).

This is a land-connected island where you can walk its beautiful walking trails and see hundreds and thousands camellia flowers if you visit right time of year. The flower blossom from late Autumn to early Spring all depends on locations of each tree, climate, and amount of sunlight it receives.

This is a beautiful place where many international conference and meetings have taken place. I recommend you visit the island if you are in Busan.
